5th Annual Star Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-Off

Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Star Chamber of Commerce Chili Cook-Off. This fun-filled event will take place Saturday, September 16th at Hunter’s Creek Park in Star. We are planning for 24+ teams and over 1,000 chili tasters this year. Starting at high noon, tastebuds will go into overtime by sampling all the different chili recipes. The event will also include a pie-eating contest, music, beer garden, merchandise booth, and an award ceremony.
Think you have the best recipe but not sure if you should enter? Anyone can enter the competition with a little preparation. First, you will need to put together a team; this could be a couple of your friends, family, or coworkers. Second, complete and return the 2023 Team Registration Form by September 1st. You can find the registration form at http://www.staridahochamber.com. Third, have someone from your team attend the September 11th mandatory pre-team meeting. Lastly, have a blast with your team cooking a minimum of seven gallons of chili at the park on September 16 and handing out your chili sample to tasters attending the event.

Even though this is a non-sanctioned chili contest, the competition and judging follow many of the sanctioned rules. Official judges will blind taste and score all the chili entries in a private location to determine the first, second and third place winners. The public will vote for their favorite chili to determine the coveted People’s Choice trophy winner. Cash prizes and a trophy will be given to first, second and third place winners. 1st place will receive $500, 2nd place receives $250, and 3rd place receives $100. Trophy awards will also be given to The Best Decorated Booth, Most Spirited Team, Most Unique Theme, and Travelled the Farthest.

The event is organized by the Star Chamber of Commerce with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Star Outreach. A special shoutout goes to Morning Star Dental for their continued support as the title sponsor and thank you to all the other sponsors, volunteers, and businesses who support this event.
