Kimmi Bitter at First National Bar!
September 1, 2022 @ 9:30 pm - 11:59 pm
Country music has moved way beyond its traditions in the pantheon of the modern music industry, and yet there is one artist who is telling a story that the origins of the genre are just as important as today’s glitz, glamor, and sequins. Kimmi Bitter is a singer-songwriter who is reminding us each and every day that the authentic music of the 1960s, underpinned by sultry twelve-bar blues and a tinge of old-fashioned rock n’ roll, is still something to be adored.
Emerging out of San Diego California, Kimmi’s music owes a lot to the good ol’ Country, Bluegrass and Rockabilly of Texas and Tennessee. The legacy that she has inherited may appear out of place on the West Coast of the USA, but Kimmi has never wavered from diving deep into the brilliant sounds that history has to offer. Singing with the raw emotion that Country demands, she fills the soul with joy every time she embarks on a journey behind the microphone.
Releasing countless singles and EPs since 2019, she has also relentlessly toured throughout the States delivering performances that have always left audiences begging for more. Infused with the intoxicating energy of a woman at the top of her powers, her ability to switch from driving boogie numbers to soulful laments is simply astounding. Spending 365 days a year in her ’95 Dodge camper van, a life living on the road is only adding more inspiration to her highly acclaimed catalogue of work.
Nominated at the San Diego Music Awards in the Best Country/Americana artist of 2020 category for her break-out EP ‘West Side Twang’, there is so much more to come from Kimmi. A single titled ‘My Grass is Blue’ and her first full length album ‘Highway Hustler’ are set to reinforce her reputation as a singer-songwriter ready to take country by storm.
If you wish to visit a world that is genuine, heartfelt and nestled in the traditional embrace of Americana and Roots, there is no one that compares to Kimmi Bitter. Triggering memories of the glory days of country with artists like Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline, she is more than capable of taking over that mantle of greatness for future generations and sing into being a place you could only dream of.
