Starring Jane Eyre Play Reading
May 13 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
“Jane Eyre” is not only a classic book but has inspired more than 30 films and TV movies. In a new play, Jane tells her story, how Charlotte Brontë came to write the novel, and why Hollywood loves her tale.
A reading of the play, “Starring Jane Eyre” will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Stage Coach Theater, 4802 Emerald Street in Boise. Admission is free and seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. The play was written and is directed by Patricia Marcantonio, who has won awards for her screenplays and journalism.
With characters from the book and Brontë’s own words, Jane weaves a narrative that is poignant, funny, and heartbreaking. Even those not acquainted with the book will come to know her story, her strength, why readers love her and why movies have been made about her for decades. The cast includes Jen Potcher, John Minegar, Patti Finley, Cynthia Atanga, Lance Thompson, Ava Williams, Shana Tavares, Amanda Turner, Emilia Turner and Kelliee Servatius. Mary Morris is assistant director.
Marcantonio is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and International Thriller Writers, and author of the Victorian Felicity Carrol mystery series, “Verdict in the Desert,” “Under the Blood Moon,” and the play, “Roja Ridin’ in the Hood and Other Tales.”
The workshop reading of the play is made possible by an Alexa Rose Grant.
