If you’re like me, you love a beautiful weekend trip to McCall! Although McCall is known as a summer destination, they also have amazing activities and scenery during the winter. Here are some of our favorite wintertime activities.
Gold Fork Hot Springs
One of our favorite spots for a relaxing experience in alkaline, mineral-rich waters in a naturally beautiful setting in the mountains. Only $10 to get in, these natural hot springs are the best way to relax on a weekend-long vacation.
Ski Brundage or Tamarack
Do you ski or snowboard? There are two fantastic ski resorts near McCall! Tamarack has been going through lots of renovations to make their mountain a dream destination. Brundage is on the other side of McCall, and they have amazing terrain and a friendly vibe! The top of the mountain has an incredible view.
Not into skiing and snowboarding? McCall has an annual Winter Carnival where they build ice sculptures throughout the town! This year’s festival is from January 27th to February 5th, 2023. It is worth the visit during this time for all the festival fun.
Breakfast with a view at Brunchette on the Lake
Vacations call for brunch! One of our favorite spots for brunch is Brunchette on the Lake. It’s in the heart of downtown and has a gorgeous view of the lake! Their food is amazing and their mimosa towers are a great time. Definitely worth a visit.
McCall offers over 544 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, breathtaking bowls, and backcountry powder! If you ever want to try snowmobiling, McCall is the place to do it. You can easily find guided tours or rentals in town for a day of exploration.
Ice Bumper Cars
We have all heard of bumper cars, but ICE bumper cars? This is the most small-town Idaho it can get. Visitors have the opportunity to hop into a bumper car and slide around the skating rink while bumping into fellow participants as often as possible. It’s good, clean, old-fashioned fun, and it makes for a memorable outing with family and friends.
Ice Fish Cascade Lake
Cascade Lake, ID, just South of McCall, freezes over in the winter and makes it perfect for ice fishing. You can find sockeye salmon and bass in the lake. They are opening early this year, so get your gear ready for some winter fun!
Bubble Eating at Salmon River Brewery
Looking for a place to eat out? Salmon River Brewery is a great spot in town. In the winter they have these fun clear heated bubbles for their patrons to eat in! It is such a warm and intimate environment to catch a good meal with friends and family. Also, their chicken pot pie is a must-try!
