There are two types of people when winter rolls around, those who’d rather enjoy it from the comfort of their home, and those who jump at the chance to shred some fresh powder! Here in Southern Idaho, we’re lucky to live so close to multiple ski resorts, ranging from local to world-class.
Magic Mountain Ski Resort is a locally owned ski hill near Kimberly, Idaho and has been a staple in the community since 1944. This family-owned resort is the perfect place for a day of fun. Not only do they have 11 ski trails, but they also have a sledding/tubing hill that everyone can enjoy. Their affordable rentals and lift tickets, make it a destination spot for families all over Southern Idaho.
Another local mountain here in Southern Idaho is just outside the small town of Albion. Pomerelle Ski Resort has 24 groomed slopes, two terrain parks, multiple chair lifts, and a Magic Carpet beginners lift. If you’ve never skied before, it really is the perfect place to learn. One of our favorite things to do at Pomerelle that’s unique to resorts in this area, is night ski. It’s always a fun time, and is truly a one of a kind experience.
Soldier Mountain is another solid stop on our list. This Southern Idaho mountain has 35 ski runs, three chairlifts, and classes for any skill level. If you’re looking for something a little more daring, they also offer Snow Cat Skiing. Join a group of eight for an epic back country skiing experience you won’t forget.
Sun Valley, Idaho boasts some of the best ski slopes in the country. Being home to two major resorts, it’s a winter destination for families from all over. Enjoy world-class skiing with some of the most scenic views in the state at Bald Mountain. It’s the perfect place for seasoned skiers and is not for the faint of heart. With dozens of expert-level ski runs, and five-star lodging and amenities, you really can’t go wrong. If you’re looking for something a little more family-friendly, Dollar Mountain is perfect. With a great variety of expert and beginner level lifts and runs, it’s a place the whole family can enjoy! It’s also home to a full-featured terrain park for those who like to ride on the wild side. With slopes like these, it’s no wonder why Sun Valley is one of the most popular ski destinations in the world.
So to those who can’t wait for the snow to fall, and the ski lifts to open, we’ll see you on the mountain!
